Resolved question:
Hello doctor,
I am 42 years old and did not have any problems arising out of any sexual disorders but for the past one month I am noticing red dry rashes all over my penis which becomes painful after having sex. One of my friends advised me to use anti fungal cream which initially had some effect, but it was soon gone. The rashes are associated with inflammation of the skin on my penis. Hydrocortisone injections and Vitamin A cream had little effect. Please help me out from this embarrassing position.

Thanks for your question. I am not sure whether the rashes on penis are due to bacterial infection or sexually transmitted disease. The first thing you should do is to see an urologist to determine the causes of the rashes. Wash your penis with warm water but avoid using soaps and strong chemicals. If needed, circumcision can help in curing the infection. If the rashes are result of chronic infection under the foreskin, proper treatment should be done as per advice of your doctor. If the rashes are accompanied by pain during urinating or associated with a scar tissue. It may also be due to infestation of scabies mite.
