Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
Some kind of back pain is common as a part of the menses, for most women.
If it is very severe, you can try painkillers and a hot water bottle.
For refractory cases, 3 cycles of oral contraceptive pills help sometimes, as the hormones causing the back pain are regulated by the pills.
A possibility is that you might be having endometriosis, in which case also, cyclical hormonal pills will help.
If this does not work you should have a pelvic and lower back region MRI to delineate the cause.
Take adequate calcium and vitamin D supplements also.
Avoid unnatural postures and exercise, lifting heavy weights or putting too much strain on your back.
Invest in an excellent mattress and do yoga / stretching for the back.
Gentle massage by a physiotherapist will also help.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further,
Regards.
Patient replied :
is it normal and consistent with your diagnosis that the backpain only hurts when i bend over.. because it is more strong before menstruation but still present in mild form mid cycle etc..can it be anything more nefarious
Nothing nefarious, but the peculiarity of being aggravated by bending over makes it more likely to be postural, something to do with strain on your back muscles.
I would recommend a pelvic MRI and imaging, that would pick up any lesion that exists.
