Hello R.K,
She is 21 years old patientold and is having these symptoms since she was 16. There is no family history of migraine. A lot of tests were conducted during her illness ranging from gastro, gyanocology related and digestion related tests ( endoscopy included). She even tried a Homeopathy medicine which worked out once but, after that due to some reason, she couldn't avail the medicine further. Right now, she isn't taking any medicines. Previously, she was put on a lot of Saline but, as such the doctors couldn't figure out the problem and did not provide a regular medicine.
Hi,
Thanks for the additional information.
I presume all tests done have been normal and inconclusive.
With the information you have provided, it looks like she is suffering from cyclic vomiting syndrome.
This syndrome which is common in children is increasingly diagnosed in adults also.
This is related to a specific form of headache called migraine.
There is no specific diagnostic test for cyclic vomiting syndrome.
She can take ondansetron to prevent vomiting.
During the symptom free period she can take medications like Inderal or amitryptyline to prevent further attacks.
You can discuss with her gastroenterologist about this possibility and get a prescription of the above mentioned medications.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
