Treatment for COLD SORE in lip spreading over face.

I am a 55 year old woman. It began with a nasal lesion in my right nostril. prior to that i had a cold sore on my upper lip. the lesion closed and then my right cheek became red, hot to the touch, swollen and inflamed. i took benedryl and went on a z-pack. the "rash" moved from the central area of the cheek now towards my right temple and is bulging and hurts. My left nostril is now peeling. I take no daily medications and have no known allergies.

I can understand your concern.

This seems to be erysipelas which is a bacterial infection of the skin and soft tissues. You urgently need to see a doctor who can prescribe you a course of oral antibiotics. You need to take them on an immediate basis. If left untreated this could increase and could cause swelling of the whole face. You can take an anti histamine like Allegra to reduce the inflammation.
