Resolved question:
I am suffering from cold,sore throat and mild fever of 99 (fever only on the first day and not now) from last 3 days.Yesterday i have visited the doctor and I have been prescribed with the following medicines:
1) Augmentin Duo 1000mg (2 times*3 days)
2) Flucold(2 times*3 days)
3) Supradyne (2 times*3 days)
Till now I have taken the above medicines for 2 times but I think there is a mild swelling on my face but I am feeling much better now..no body ache,no running nose etc
Please suggest shall I continue with the above prescribed medication or stop taking Augmentin as the swelling could be due to the Medication.Please reply

I understand your concern.
You should continue the medicines, because if you stop using antibiotics after a day there are high chances of developing resistance in the future. I would not really agree starting suh high dose of augmentin for an infection that almost cleared up by itself. But since you have started you need to continue. Please try getting Augmentin 650 mg, or split one tablet into 2 and have it 2 times. So 1000 mg gets divided into 500 each. You're currently taking 2 g of that medicine and that is not required.
In case the swelling persists, even tomorrow then you can stop augmentin. But don't stop it after the first day itself. Continue for one more day. If you have no pain you can stop supradyne too. Just continue with augmentin and flucold for at least one more day. If selling reduces finish the entire course of augmentin.

Thanks for the quick reply but getting 650mg at this time would be little tough so I will go ahead with half tablet and for how many days should I continue 500gm tablets in case there is no swelling...

I will advise you finish the entire course to avoid the complexity of resistance later on.
Hence 500 mg twice a day can be continued for 4 more days, so overall 5 day course is over.

Hi, Today I m suffering from loose motions (5times).Is it again due to these ANTIBIOTICS. ..Shall I stop taking these or continue...request u to pls revert...I will never ever take antibiotics:(

I understand the distress you're facing due to loose stools.
It is not right to blame antibiotics for it though. But yes you did start with very high dose and it is possible that, that might have caused your gastric upset.
If you have recovered from your earlier infection, you can stop the augmentin.
To control your loose stools, loperemide capsule can be taken SOS.
Once you take loperamide it will stop. You can take up to 3 capsules, every 6 hours if required.

No stopping augmentin won't cause any problem. I am still surprised you were advised such high dose initially. That definitely caused the gastric upset. Antibiotic usage is fine provided it is used prudently.
Anyway, you continue with the flucold. Do saline water gargling and avoid cold items.
Also once the loose motion frequeny is controlled stop the loperamide.
