I have been with the same sexual partner for ten years. He gets coldsores on his mouth and recently he gave me oral sex and I noticed he had a small sore on his mouth. I use to get coldsores on my mouth when we first started dating but have not gotten one for many years. Can I get genital herpes from him having the coldsore on his mouth under these circumstances?

No. This just happend today. The sore on his mouth was not open. He did not think it was a coldsore because he had got burnt from the sun and thought it was just from that. He did not have the same signs he usually has as when he gets coldsores. He thought it was just apart of the burn. Also after I seen it I washed my genital area right away. He had only come in contact for less then a minute. But like I said it was not open
