Burning, tingling in penis on CLOTRIMAZOLE. GONORRHEA?

Resolved Question:

Symptoms: burning, tingling in penis head and left leg/foot

I got the urinalysis results from the doctor and there is no indication of a bacterial infection, only trace amounts of blood in the urine (but this is notthing to be concerned about or is related)

The doctor said I do not need to take antibiotics. He is still waiting for the urine culture.

Tests for HIV and syphilis came back negative. Still waiting for chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Today the burning, tingling subsided greatly to almost normal feeling. Only thing I did was started taking concentrated cranberry tablets this morning (2 tablets with each meal). I also have been applying Clotrimazole since yesterday.

Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated. Could it still be gonorrhea? Still no pain in urination and no discharge.

Hello.
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
Yes i remember your case.
Since there were some leukocytes, it possibly can indicate a bacterial infection. It definitely does not seem like gonorrhoea because in gonorrhoea, there will a discharge from the urethra. Since there is no discharge in your case, gonorrhoea can be ruled out. There will also be other symptoms such as pain in the testes, low grade fever, burning urination, e.t.c However for conclusive evidence, we have to wait for the results.
You should continue with the cranberry tablets that i prescribed and recovery can be expected in another 3-4 days time. In case the culture shows some infection, then you can take the appropriate antibiotic on your local doctor's recommendation.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

Got the urine culture this morning - no bacterial growth shown. There is no UTI. Could this be from a fungal infection, since the Clotrimazole seems to help? Still had some tingling in left leg and mild pain in penis over the weekend, but overall symptoms are greatly reduced and minimal.

Hello.
Firstly it is good to know that the symptoms have reduced a lot.
Yes it can be a fungal infection. The pain and tingling could have been due to inflammation and lymph node enlargement which is seen in infections. Since it is improving there is nothing to worry about.
Continue with clotrimazole for another 2-3 days and hopefully you will be completely asymptomatic after that.
Regards.

Thank you, but not quite yet. I still have to use the Clotrimazole or I'm going to get the burning again (not as severe). I did develop a small painful bump in the back of my right thigh this morning. It could be a bug bite while I was asleep. I went and got another Herpes test.

Hello.

You can continue the Clotrimazole for a week. As mentioned earlier, it is likely to be candiasis (fungal infection). It is very important to avoid dampness and keep the area clean and dry for healing and to prevent recurrence.
If the burning persists beyond a week, it is best to let your doctor examine and prescribe oral antifungals if candida is confirmed.

The bump could be due to folliculitis, a bacterial infection of hair follicle. It can be painful. Application of an antibiotic like Neosporin or polysporin ointment will help.

Regards.
