Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
HSV-2 mainly causes genital herpes which presents with genital rash and painful sores as the primary infection. If treatment with Acyclovir or Valacyclovir is initiated as soon as possible, the infection can be controlled and it will also prevent recurrences in the future.
It is a chronic infection and can also recur in the future during episodes of stress, other concurrent infections, fever ( e.t.c ). Most carriers get around 1-2 outbreaks every year, but again Acyclovir therapy enhances speed of recovery.
So consult your local physician and get prescription for Acyclovir. And start the treatment as soon as possible.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

SHE is on VAltrex.is that okay? do you die from this? does is spread to the brain and you die?
Hello,
Yes Valtrex is a good choice.
So she already has been put on appropriate medicine, so there is nothing to worry about.
Do not worry about it getting widespread, that only happens in severely immuno-compromised people and those who do not take medicines. And no it can't spread to brain. 10-15 % of US population has HSV-2 and around 30 % adult population has HSV-1, they have been able to suppress the disease completely with their natural immunity.
Kindly do not worry.
Regards.
