Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com
Our patella or knee-cap bone has lateral & medial articular surfaces which articulates with our thigh bone at the knee joint. The present sentence of your MRI REPORT ' Focal full thickness lateral patellofemoral cartilage loss ' does mean that there is a complete disappearance of the whole thickness of soft covering which covers the lateral articular aspect of patella bone. This has bared the area over the lateral articular aspect of patella bone.
Hope this will help.
Feel free to discuss further
Regards

Thanks for the response. What are the treatment options for this condition? I am only 33 .
Hello,
There are the different type of cartilage surgeries for this condition where a surgeon can either debride the affected area or can replace a lost cartilage from new cartilage within the joint. You should consult your orthopedic surgeon for this.
Hope this will help.

Thank you! Last question, is a knee replacement sometimes an option for this type of condition? I had a tibial osteotomy 15 years ago.
At your age knee replacement is not a option for this problem.
