Hello,
Thanks for your query at Spring Health
Your symptoms of fever after 12 days followed by headache and spleen enlargement after unprotected sex with an unknown person does signifies a high risk for HIV positivity. Although, symptoms alone cannot classically say you are HIV positive. Its important you go through a number of blood tests:
- Antibody test
- ELISA test
- Western blot test
These tests usually are not positive until 30 days after you have got the infection, its called the window period. It's a must you repeat the test after four weeks again. You do not have to worry about the confidentiality, it is always maintained in VCTC.
I request you to follow the following:
- I suggest you to always use condom during sexual intercourse.
- Do not have sexual intercourse with people you don't know.
- If you turn out to be HIV positive, its very important you tell your spouse about this.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask follow-up questions
