Hello,

Thanks for your consult at DoctorSpring.com.

Just like adults, the fetus also has periods of inactivity and spurts of activity.
It is normal to have some amounts of time when no movement is perceived. From what you have written, for the last two days, there is no movement in the daytime.

Daytime is when she would be having meals. If there is no movement even after the meals, it is not normal.

Please see your doctor immediately, and have auscultation of the fetal heart beat.
Also, an ultrasound and Colour doppler to ascertain that everything is alright.

Take care.
Please feel free to discuss further.

Patient replied :

The matter is that since it is her first pregnancy, it's a confusing matter for her also to track the fetal movements. Today(28.12.13) at around 12.30 pm she told me that when she lies down at left position on bed keeping her hand on her belly she is feeling something, is this the fetal movement.Kindly confirm. i had also consulted with my doctor over telephone he told me there is nothing to be worried at this point of time and he also instructed not to carry out any USG at this same time. Kindly provide your comments

As she is already 29 weeks pregnant, she would already know how fetal movements feel, even if it is her first pregnancy.
If she is feeling some movement on lying down , that is most probably fetal movement.
Only she can judge it best.
I still feel that if she maintains that no fetal movements are being felt, then an ultrasound should be done, particularly as you are so anxious.
Atleast the fetal heartbeat should be heard by the doctor with a stethoscope and shown to you too, by a Doppler.
You would be relieved then.
Take care.
