Hello
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring. I can understand your concern.
As a child ages, he or she does experience some darkening of skin due to tanning by being out in the sun off n on.
In case there is darkening of the skin in the body folds, on the knuckles etc only then it would be important to rule out any hormonal conditions which could lead to it.
It would be best to visit your doctor in that case. Would be glad to answer any follow-ups.
Take care
Patient replied :
I didn’t understand this, are you saying that it can because of hormonal changes ?
Should we consider visiting the dermatologist, but my question is that if parents are fair skin then how can baby have dark skin.
What can we do to prevent this colouring changes
Hello
Thanks for your reply.
Yes it would be best to visit a dermatologist. It's at times possible to have a dark skin even if parents are fair, but it's always best to rule out any other causes that could be leading to it, also it's important to let a doctor first examine and then decide what could be causing it.
By hormonal changes I was referring to a condition called addison's disease which could cause darkening of body folds n knuckles.
Hope this helps, please feel free to get back.
