What are these small bumps on both buttock cheeks?

Resolved Question:

About seven weeks ago I noticed on both buttock cheeks redness with a small bump on both sides. There was no blister or severe pain and no fluids and only one bump not a row or cluster as my thought was herpes. The only exposure I had was skin to skin contact - no oral or intercourse. I am a gay male in good health. I went to my dermatologist about two weeks later, skin healed and just some scaring. She said it did not appear to be Herpes given the explanation I provided and that it healed rather quickly. This past week a small red bump on one cheek in the same place appeared. Again no blisters, no fluids or puss and it is not painful to touch. It's been five days and it has pretty much healed up.

Does this sound like herpes? From all that I've read it can be confusing however most reports I read describe if there are visible signs that it is often starts out as a bumps and then moves to painful blisters with liquid and then painful scabs form. This has not happened to me. It can itch a bit however only when I am running or playing sports and when I've been sweating purfusely.

Thank you

Hello.
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com.
I understand your concern. From you history, it does not seem to be Herpes. Lesions in Herpes usually develop as painful papules progressing on to clusters of fluid filled blisters on a reddish base which are also painful. Even in mild cases of Herpes, a mild pain or discomfort is present. Although Herpes can be transmitted through skin to skin contact with an infected person, your lesion is unlikely to be Herpes. I do know that reading online about medical conditions can be confusing especially with all the unverified and un-reviewed information.
Pain is an important characteristic of Herpes lesions and the absence of even mild discomfort along with the lesions which do not appear like Herpes, is what goes against a diagnosis of Herpes. What you have had could be a bacterial infection such as folliculitis or a fungal infection. Since you have a history of itch and profuse sweating, a fungal infection is more likely. A high resolution image of the affected area when the bump was present can be helpful in aiding diagnosis. So I request you to kindly upload one if it is available. If not, you could also upload a picture of the lesion at present.
Meanwhile it is important that the area is kept clean and dry and a cotton underwear be used.
Feel free to ask queries.
Thank you.
