What after Sinemet stops working in Parkinsons

Resolved Question:

Where do I go now with Parkinson's DIsease when Sinemet has quit working? After six years, I am tasking seven SInemet (25/100) per day, plus seven Ropinerole (Requiip 3 Mg) per day.) But I am spoending about 8 hours per day, sometimes more, in a non-functional state, with tremors and drooling. My neurologist says that is as far as he can go with the meds, except for various anti-depressants, and I should "get used to it." Is there anything else I can try?

Your neurologist is partly correct. However, I would feel that a few more medications could be used to make you feel better.

Trihexiphenydyl can used to reduce tremors and drooling.
Amantadine can be used to reduce rigidity and slowness.
Entacapone can be used to potentiate the effects of sinemet and reduce the side effects.

Finally, when medications do not work much, then, there is a role of surgery- deep brain stimulation (DBS).
So, I request you to discuss with your doctor regarding the above suggestions.
