TURF TOE with pain on EXTENSION. Shall continue BOOTS?

Resolved Question:

I hurt my toe playing softball about 6 months ago. The first week I could barely walk, but stayed off it for about a month and it eventually seemed to heal. The first game back in softball, I dove for a ball and hurt it again. I went and saw a doctor who diagnosed as 'turf toe' and gave me ibuprofen and a 'boot', which I wore for about 2 months (per his directions). I've had the boot off now for about a month and the toe doesn't hurt in normal activities, but if I put a lot of weight on the toe I can still feel it's 'not right' with pain when it stretches (extension). I don't yet have confident to put my full weight on that toe. I'm not sure if maybe I need to rehab the toe (i.e., has the ligament/tendon lost strength or flexibility, which is causing the issue) or if I need to go back in the boot to continue to let it heal (i.e. is it still sprained/torn)?

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
Your daughter seems to be having a stomach infection, which is causing her diarrhea and vomiting.
The fever could also be a manifestation of the infection.
Now for her sore throat and cough, there are two possibilities. Either it could be totally unrelated to her stomach bug, and are independent symptoms, or else the more probable cause is her reflux leading to esophageal irritation, causing cough and sore throat. I will advise the following medicines, kindly start for her.
1) Tab. Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice daily for 5 days.
2) Tab. Ondansetron 4 mg, before each meal to prevent vomiting ( more frequent vomiting- 8 mg can be used )
3) Tab. Loperamide SOS to prevent diarrhea.
4) Cap. Omeprazole 20 mg once daily before breakfast for 7 days.
You will need prescription for Ciplox. Adequate hydration and fluid intake suffices mostly, however she seems to have a pretty bad infection. So antibiotics need to be started.
Regards.
