Hi,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
The symptoms you have mentioned point towards GERD and a possible esophagitis.
You can take nexium once daily along with mucaine 10 ml thrice a day.
It does not look like esophageal cancer.
You can get an upper GI endoscopy done.
This will confirm esophagitis and that you do not have esophageal cancer.
Consult your gastroenterologist for an upper GI endoscopy.
I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Thank you for your answer. I also have another problem regarding the esophagus. When I drink the carafate it burns and hurts my throat and I feel like im choking on the liquid and it sometimes bring tears to my eyes. Sometimes I do feel like food gets stuck in my throat and in my chest. It feels like something is constantly in my throat and I try to swallow but it won't go away. I cough a little bit and sometimes it feels like I have alot of mucus is in my throat and my nose is stuffy and I have to clear my throat maybe a bit much. I dont really feel the burning all the time, it feels like my throat is blocked and I also have shortness of breath and I fall asleep without meaning too. I try to stay away and I am not able to do it. Do you have an answer for this? please any info would help. Thank you.
All the symptoms are very typical of GERD and acid reflux.
Once you take the medicines advised, you will definitely feel a lot better.
Revert back to me after taking the medicines for 2 weeks.

Well I have been taking the medications as prescribed and I don't feel any better. The swallowing problem has gotten worse and the burning is still there. The swallowing problem got worse overnight. I have very bad shortness of breath, I cant seem to keep my weight up. I eat good for the day and gain a few pounds then lose the weight I gained in my sleep. I gain about 3 pounds every day and then I go to sleep then wake up and I lost the weight. Im not sure what to do doc, the swallowing problem is just getting worse and worse every day.
Hi,
If the swallowing problem and the burning sensation persists in spite of taking medications, it is time for a few tests. You need to undergo upper GI endoscopy, esophageal manometry and 24 hours pH monitoring with Bravo capsule to know what is causing your symptoms
You can discuss with your gastroenterologist about these tests
I hope that answers your query.
