Tenosynivitis of the left hand.

Resolved Question:

I have had a swollen left hand for the last 5 weeks. I have seen 4 doctors and one physio. No one really knows what the problem is. I have so far been diagnosed with tendinitis, an infection, and miss alignment of the bones/ligaments. The problem is i live in East Timor and there are no specialists here.

I have had a blood test, which came back normal.

No trauma has occurred.

I'm very active, running, body weight exercises, weights, swimming. Also i'm a mechanic although i'm now in management so am not on the tools that much any more. But i would say my wrists have had a hard life so far

I eat very healthy and rarely drink

The only pain is on the back of the wrist when the palm of the hand is bent towards the inside of the arm at 90degrees

Hello,

Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring. I have read your query with diligence.

It looks that you were a manual worker in recent past.

Looking at your details, it looks that most probable cause for swelling at hand is due to presence of tenosynovitis & infection or inflammation of deep palmar spaces of hand -

If you are not having fever or other symptoms except swelling then following conditions should be ruled out -

-Gout

-Calcium pyrophosphate disease

-Hydroxyapetite deposition disease

-Sarcoidosis

-Tenosynovitis

These conditions can be diagnosed by having blood test, prescribed from a Rheumatologist. You should consult to a rheumatologist.

Till then take a mild analgesic like advil or aleeve for relief.

Hope this all will help you. Please feel free to discuss further.
