Hello.
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
The issues with head injuries are that thye can range from most trivial to potentially life threatning diseases. When a person is injured in the head and comes with a swelling we look for some signs such as vomiting, nausea, mood changes, headache, depression, dizziness, and even difficulty in balancing. If any of these is present, it is better to get a CT SCAN done to rule out a concussion or internal bleeding. So since she is having difficulties at times in balancing herself, it will be better if you can get her to do a CT SCAN to rule out a concussion.
The more alarming signs are drop in blood pressure, bleeding from the mouth/ nose, severe vomiting, loss of conciousness, sever headache, stiff neck ( e.t.c ). Since none of this is there, it is unlikely to be something very serious. But still because of the balancing issue a CT SCAN OF THE BRAIN will be helpful.
Once you have the report please upload it.
Till she gets the tests done, she should rest and take Tab. Tylenol as and when required to control the pain.
Hope this was helpful,
Regards.

We have yet to take a CT Scan. My mother says she feels her head heavy . does the tablet tylenol takes care of that. The swelling on her head is more prominent than I have described. The swelling actuallys spreads from from the back of her head to the laft side of her forehead. Please consider this. While she was preparing food, she felt hot initially and then cold a little while later followed by sweating.
Hello.
The swelling can be due to localized inflammation. It does appear quite big from your description. Tylenol is anti inflammatory, so it will bring the pain and swelling down. But since her swelling is so big i will advise you give her Tab. Chymoral Fort ( Chymotrypsin ). It is a medicine, that will reduce the pain, inflammation and localized oedema. Her other symptoms can be the manifestation of the swelling which also creates a pressure effect.
Kindly give her the medicine. Its been over a day and she still has not exhibited any of the major symptoms. So it is unlikely to be anything serious. However, if possible get a CT SCAN just for a conclusive evidence.
