Small sore ulcer in vagina. Can it be CHANCROID?

Resolved Question:

I think I may have an STD. I think I may have had it for years.

I've only had 2 sexual partners. Condoms used always. However, I've never been tested. Not because I am irresponsible but because I didn't have the money or any "symptoms" so of anything so I figured I was fine. However, a few years old patientago, I recall a period in which I would get these ulcers on the front of my vagina in the pubic area. They never spread or moved my just stayed on the pelvis/pubic hair area of my vagina more specifically in the hair centered just above the vagina. I rarely got any near the hair towards the hip. Never the majora or minora or vulva either.

*edited to add* I also have a 3 small rice-sized cysts present in my labia majora. I had only one for years old patientand on day it swelled up and burst and didn't come back for quite a while but eventually returned on the inside of one of the lips and 2 smalls ones on the other inside of the lip. I noticed that the ulcers started around the time my cysts came back. If I pull the majora back, there are 3 small lumps sitting under the skin. Though the skin inside my labia is completely normal.

At the time I was shaving my pubic hair with a razor and attributed it to razor burn and infected ingrown hairs. Once I stopped doing that, the problem also stopped. However, I do remember it took quite a while for the ulcers to heal. They would start out rather small, and then turn into abscess like sores and would be soft and eventually open, then drain and heal over. It would take about a 2-4 weeks to heal and I would only get one at a time, though sometimes one then another would start before the other one healed.

So that's when I stopped shaving completely. I do have "scars" but not bad however my public hair has small gaps from where the ulcers were.

About a year or so after the ulcers stopped, I noticed a cyst on my bartholin gland on the left side. It was soft, not too large and didn't hurt so I never noticed it until I happened to brush agaist it one day. It was completely asymptomatic and stayed the same size for about a year(?) and then randomly one day it started to hurt. When I applied pressure to it it drained out blood and cheese like matter that had a bit of a smell to it. It ceased to hurt and healed very quickly after that. That happened a few months ago (maybe 3) and has not come back.

I also occasionally will get a bump on the inside of my leg where my thighs rub agaist my vagina or where my buttocks come together near my anus. They are usually under the skin and very cyst like. It will hurt a little bit. Sometimes it will come to a head, but I've rarely had problems with ulcers or puss occuring with these. At least not the way that I did before. It seemed like before, I would get one and that one would cause an irritation in another spot and so one. I'd sometimes have 2 or three in different spots on my pelvis. The only time I can remember having them is when I was in my 3-4 year of college (3 years old patientafter stopping sex with my first partner and before my second partner) when life was particularly stressful. Since graduation the frequency greatly decreased then they disappeared and I haven't had any (like in college) in over 2 years.

Then I happened to stumble in to reading about stds one day. I read everything I could about herpes, syphilis and chancroid stds. I guess my sores fit into only these 3 categories. I was very worried I could have herpes and not know it however I never had a cluster of bumps or anything. I then thought maybe I had syphilis but the ulcers would get really soft, sometimes ragged and open up to drain. They were painful but not enough to cause worry. Then I thought maybe chancroid because I never got a "rash" that comes with not treating syphilis for long periods and its quite uncommon in the United States.

I've also never had trouble with urination, fever, rash, or discharge, headache, fatigue etc that would indicate something more serious than an ingrown hair was wrong. I've had blood tests done to test the functioning of all my major organs etc a few months ago for visa issues and everything came back 100% normal.I am looking for a place to test currently however its not easy as I am living outside the US in a country where testing is not as commonplace as in the US.

Thank you for reading, I hope I've adequately explained my situation.

Hello.
Thanks for posting your query on DoctorSpring.com.
I can understand your concern.
From your description, it could have been chancroid.
However, it's difficult to confirm it without having a look at it. Do you have a picture that you may have clicked of the ulcers?
How long back did you have them?
How long has it been since you have never had a lesion?
Did you take any treatment for the ulcers?
Please reply to the above and please upload a high resolution image of the ulcers or the affected area in the follow-up.
Thanks.

Hello I have uploaded 4 pictures of them. The pictures 1 and 4 would show how the irriation would start. Sometimes it would have 2 "heads"but usually one and be solid around but eventually progress into a puss filled ulcer that would soften and burst open. They kind of look like the chancre in picture 2 and somtimes as one would be healing another would pop up next to it almost as if it infected the other side like in picture 3.
I haven't had any of these ulcers in about 2 years. I do occasionally get a cyst like bump that will hurt and come to a head (near my thigh crease and buttocks) but it will soften like a cyst and then go away on its own painlessly. I also still currently have the same 3 small cysts in my labia majora that are completely asypmptomatic.
Finally, I had not gotten treatment for them because I attributed it to an infected hair follical. I sometimes get them in my armpit area due to using deorderant which causes a pocket to open up. However if I sqweeze it the deoderant in the gland will come out and everything will be fine. I get bumps in my armpit sometimes but they never turn to ulcers.

Note: I found picture 5 earlier after stumbling across something called hidradenitis suppurativa. I attached a picture below. The lesions would start off very similar to this. Under the sink and just raised. Then white heads would appear and they would become irritated and eventually rupture.

Hello

Thanks for your reply.

I would like to see the pictures of the lesions that you may have got. It is not of much help to see pictures from the internet and diagnose a case. The picture of the armpits is of hidradenitis suppurativa. The one of the boil is a furuncle which is a bacterial infection of the skin.

If you do not have ulcers since two years, it would be difficult to treat you for them. In case you get an ulcer again you would need to immediately take treatment for it. In case of a bacterial infection like furuncle you will need a short course of antibiotics and application of mupirocin cream.

To treat hidradenitis , it's a difficult task but a course of oral antibiotics and application of mupirocin cream will be beneficial.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Regards.
