This swelling that you have described probably involves the foreskin of the penis. However we cant completely rule out that it could also be due to the glans or the head of the penis itself. This may have occurred due to an infection or following poor hygiene. So you may be suffering from a condition known as Balanoposthitis, which is the inflammation of the foreskin and glans. Bacterial infection is the main predisposing factor for this condition. It usually presents with swelling of the glans and the foreskin, redness, itching. The other conditions include Bowen s disease, Candidiasis, Contact dermatitis, and Erythroplasia of Queyrat.
I would suggest a few remedies to reduce the swelling:
a) Ice packs can be used to bring down the swelling.
b) Anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen is used twice a day after food for 5 days
c) Antibiotics like tablet Ciplox 500 mg twice a day for 5 days.
Try these methods for a week and if you do not get any relief then you can consult the surgeon. Hope this helps.
