Reluctant for hysterectomy

Resolved Question:

Based on my latest consultation with Dr Aarti Vazarini, I'm reluctant to have a hysterectomy because of what I been reading. Hysterectomy accelerates aging, lost of sexual desire, osteoporosis, cardiovascular problems etc.... Based on what I've research, most of these effects have been discovered lately. So when you have all this information I keep asking myself, is this the way to go? they're alternatives that 10 years ago were not available. My Doctor recommended to do an MRI, because says that in his 35 years practicing medicine (OBYN) he's only seen one case of a Fibroid to be cancerous . The MRI came out with no suspicious of cancer ,only that it's big measuring 9 cm. Also he ordered a Ca125 which came out 16.6 . I don't have any major symptoms only that my belly is big and It feels a little uncomfortable since I'm not an obese person. I was just thinking about a Utherine Fibroid Embolization. For me is difficult to say I'm going to take out some organs from my body , for something that is big and is not causing major consequences. The last thing that my Doctor ordered was an Renal sonogram , to see how my kidneys are. What to you think of this procedure,.(UFE) taking into consideration my age 51

Hello and welcome again at DoctorSpring.com
Glad to hear from you.
UFE maybe tried for a single big fibroid, however the biggest drawback is that the myoma would not be removed and hence, would be unavailable for histopathology or biopsy examination.
Biopsy is the gold standard for ruling out any kind of malignant possibility within the fibroid.
Given the earlier sonogram results, I feel it would be more reassuring for you to have the fibroid itself removed ( your concerns for an entire formal hysterectomy are valid, but just a myomectomy could be done ), and have the biopsy report stating that there is nothing to worry.

I hope this has helped.
Feel free to follow up.
Thankyou
