Ear pain can be presentation of many diseases. To treat it we should know correct diagnosis
To know a definite diagnosis ear examination is required. For this you can approach a local ENT doctor.
Ear pain with history of cold is usually caused by middle ear infection. But I believe you don’t have cold.
It seems that you don’t have any ear discharge
Recurrent sharp ear pain for short duration without ear discharge and history of cold usually caused by infection of outer ear (otitis externa) or by impacted wax.
1st of all you should avoid using I-pod in same ear for some time
You should avoid self cleaning of ear or using ear buds.
You should start analgesic for pain relief.
Usually ear drops are prescribed by examination and getting correct diagnosis
But if you want to start you may start a combination of
Ofloxacin 0.3% w/v, clotrimazole 1 % w/v, beclometasone dipropionate 0.025 % w/v, lignocaine hydrochloride 2 % w/v 3 drops 3 times daily for 5 days
or
chloramphenicol 5 % w/v, clotrimazole 1 % w/v, beclometasone dipropionate 0.025 % w/v, lignocaine hydrochloride 2 % w/v 3 drops 3 times daily for 5 days
This combination is useful for most of ear infection.
