Hello,
Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.
I have discussed your concern with our Pain Medicine Specialist. The cyclical / intermittent nature of the pain suggests a possible viral aetiology. Unfortunately your symptoms are bit non specific. By non specific I mean it is difficult to come to a single diagnosis. This is probably a myofascial pain (with a mild neuropathy)probably from a viral infection (?)
Since you have been adequately evaluated the best approach would be a symptomatic treatment approach. (Pain meds, steam inhalation). The radiating nature of the pain suggest a possible nerve involvement . A never conduction study can help in identifying the nerve involved. However it might not give any further information. The symptoms might recur for some more time , and after that should spontaneoulsly resolve. If there any new symptoms / worsening symptoms you may require further testing - including a NCS and MRI.
Hope this helps
