Hi,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
Your wife is probably having molluscum contagiosum. Its a viral infection and in genital area is usually sexually transmitted. Molluscum lesions are usually pearly white or skin colored elevated lesions with central umbilication. Frequent scratching, waxing, use of razors in affected area may increase the spread of lesion.
Please contact a doctor nearby to get the lesions removed either by electro cautery or by manual curettage and extraction.
Hope this helped.
Should there be any doubt, please write back.
Patient replied :

Hi,
Thanks for writing back.
Its definitely molluscum contagiosum. No tests are required to confirm it. The incubation period of disease is usually 4 to 8 weeks ie even if you get infected, it might take two to three months for you to manifest the lesions. We club genital molluscum with sexually transmitted infections as two out of ten males and one out of ten females may have other sexually transmitted infections linked to it. Molluscum elsewhere on body is not sexually transmitted. Also molluscum has low infectivity rate, so not necessarily the partner will get infected always.
I personally prefer doing curettage or cautery for the lesion as it helps in resolution of lesions at one go but some prefer prescribing tretinoin 0.1 percent gel or imiquimod cream or fluoro uracil cream application for resolving the lesions. Amongst all these creams, tretinoin gel or cream applied twice daily over the lesion with a tooth pick or earbud is safest option.
Hope this helped.
