Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K. and I am pleased to assist you.
Though you have been drinking alcohol regularly, you are not having cirrhosis.
Cirrhosis is a chronic liver disease. In cirrhosis the albumin globulin ratio will be less than one and the platelet count will be less than normal.
You have neither of these and hence it is unlikely that you have cirrhosis
So there is no need to worry.
But you need to cut down alcohol as you are more prone for cirrhosis. Also you can develop pancreatitis.
The pain in the chest and metallic taste are due to gastroesophageal reflux disease.
The abdominal pain could be due to alcoholic gastropathy or pancreatitis.
An upper GI endoscopy, ultrasound scan of the abdomen and serum amylase and lipase tests may be done to fund the cause.
Prilosec will provide relief from GERD and alcoholic gastropathy.
If you have recurrent diarrhea , get a stool analysis done. Take probiotics.
I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Thank you for the response Doctor. I have abstained from alcohol for two weeks now and my stomach is feeling better and the diarrhea has stopped apart from when I eat foods that contain seeds. I have one final question which is a bit embarassing- my semen production has reduced by about 90% which is worrying although i have been having more sex/ masturbating more. It is also of a thicker composition. Is this a serious problem? Is it linked to my alcohol intake? How can i improve the quantity as in the new year my partner and I are going to start trying to concieve a child. Could it be linked to my high cholesterol?
Thank you.
Hello,
Alcohol and smoking abstinence definitely improves semen quality.
Eat plenty of fruits, green vegetables.
Avoid tight-fitting jeans/ trousers.
Semen quantity will increase. Nothing to worry about it.
