I have a 10 yr old girl she has type 1 diabetes for 14 month and coeliac disease for 10 month the doctor wanted blood work done can you help me with it
her levels are
Cholesterol 3.9 mmol/L
Triglyceride 0.9 mmol/L
LDL chol 2.3 mmol/L
HDL chol 1.2 mmol/L
Chol/HDL ratio 3.2
so does this mean she has CVD

I can understand your situation. But, I think that there are a couple of misconceptions and we need to clarify those.
1. CVD - Coronary vascular disease or atherosclerosis is not diagnosed based on a lipid profile. The diagnosis is based on clinical examination and laboratory testing suggestive of arterial wall thickening secondary to lipid plaque deposition.
2. Your child's lipid profile is normal for her age. The cut offs that we use are as follows:
Cholesterol should be < 5.2
Triglycerides should be < 1.7
LDL should be < 2.6
HDL should be more than 1.0
So there is no reason for you to worry about hyperlipidemia or coronary vascular disease in your child. Kindly do not worry.
