Need second opinion about relative's report.

Resolved Question:

Dear Doctor,

I have close relative who need second opinion. My relative got the report from doctor about his condition, but problem is that we as the family want to know that to do about it. And also can you explain in colloquially what the report means.

Best Regards,

Mahmoodi

Hello,
Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com

I have noted your history and current symptoms.
Tremors and weakness can occur in MS, however, they are uncommon.
When symptoms occur for a short period in MS, they are referred to as transitory symptoms.
Tremors can be controlled by using beta blockers such as propranolol tablets.
There are no specific treatments for weakness, however, it would improve with vitamin supplements such as vitamin D and B12 as well as physical therapy.

I hope it helps.
Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)

Patient replied :

Thank you Doctor Kumar. Do you think I should ride this out for a few days or should I see my GP right away? Can the GP prescribe betablockers or would I need to go through tests to establish this is MS related. Are there any common conditions, other than MS, that could cause the tremors?
Thank you
Grainne

Thank you for getting back.
If the symptoms are minor, you can wait for a few days. If they are disabling, you may see your GP now. Your GP should be able to prescribe beta blockers.
Other then MS, there are some other conditions that can cause tremors. These include thyroid hormone excess, vitamin B 12 deficiency, anxiety and familial tremors.
Tests may be needed based on the severity of symptoms as well as presence of other neurological abnormalities on examination.
Best wishes, please feel free to discuss further.
