Resolved question:
Hi Doc,
My wife,Who got positive during her pregnancy check using kit. We went to gynac and she asked for vaginal u/s and as per the u/s result she recommend some medicine and full bed rest for two week period. At this moment i am not sure what is this all about as per the u/s report its writen.... Uterus is bulky and shows presence of well defined gestational sac. (1.5 cm) corresponding to 4wk and 5d (~1 wk).Poor decidual reaction is noted around sac. No Foetal pole and yolk sac seen. Bilateral ovaries normal in size. No fluid in cul-de-sac. Repeat u/s in 1-2 wk.
What does it really means..
1. Is she pregnant with some risk or is this normal?
2. What should be the next step?
Doctor also prescribed below medicines..1. Duphaston,2. Susten,3.FOL 123,4. Proluton Depot (inj)5.Uterone (Inj)

Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com
Please let me know a few details.
When was your wife's last menstrual period?
Are her cycles regular?
On what date was the ultrasound scan report done?
Please upload the report of the scan, instead of typing it out?
Is this her first pregnancy?
Does she have any pain / bleeding?
Please write back with these details.
Take care.
Hi Doc,
Please find below the answers:
Last menstrual Period was on Dec 5th 2014.
Her cycles are not regular. sometimes it is after 35-40 days and sometimes even longer like 50days.
The scan was done on 3rd Feb 2015.
The report and u/s is uploaded
Yes, Its her first pregnency.
There was a slight bleeding on 23rd Jan2015 and she gets the menstrual cramps but no bleeding or spotting after 23rd Jan 2015.
Please reply you answers are much awaited.
Hello,
I have gone through the reports.
If she had regular cycles, the scan on 3rd of February should have shown at least 8 weeks pregnancy with heartbeat.
Since her cycles are irregular it is likely that the conception is delayed.
Hence, the scan is lagging behind by 4 weeks.
This often happens with irregular cycles.
You do not need to panic.
Regarding your question - is this normal or not - it depends on the next scan.
The next scan should be showing normal growth and development, if the next scan also shows delayed development, then there is cause for concern.
The next step should be to take all the medications sincerely.
Take lots of rest.
Avoid stress, travelling, intercourse.
Go for repeat scan after 1 - 2 weeks as advised.
Keep me posted on what happens.
Wish you all the best.
Thanks Doctor,
I believe the things in moving in right direction then. Just want to add two more query.
1. She is not having any symptoms like nausea, vomiting. If we are suspecting 4-6th weeks so is this normal?
2. Do we need to avoid any special kind of food during this period?
Hello again.
Some women do not experience any nausea and vomiting all throughout pregnancy.
Also, some women experience it only after the initial few weeks of pregnancy.
That is not a reliable indicator of how successfully a pregnancy is proceeding.
Regarding food, take good healthy, nutritious, home cooked food.
Avoid eating outside.
AVoid oily, spicy , greasy, preserved or processed food.
Take lots of water and liquids.
