Yes ice pick headaches are the most severe attacks mostly generating from migraine, but since the attacks are infrequent and short mostly no management is required. Your description does seem like ice pick headache. If it happens only once a week, it can be ignored. Only when the attacks start getting frequent, it needs intervention. After a neurology review, if required Indomethacin is particularly effective in controlling Ice Pick Headaches. Some doctors prefer melatonin, but Indomethacin gives good symptomatic relief.
If it is not hampeing your quality of life then it does not need intervention.
