Dear sir,
For sexual problems related doctor advised me to have the test mentioned below
TEST AND REPORT: PENILE USG WITH CAVERNOSAL ARTERIAL FLOW STUDY:(ultrasound test) Both corpus cavernosa show uniform echotexture. Cavernosal arteries are seen. Corpus spongiosum show uniform echotexture. The urethral outlines are seen. Cavernosal arterial flow study performed without ICP. The arterial color flow is seen. The pulsatility present. The peak systolic velocity in cavernosal arteries is seen 5cms/sec with absent diastole.
IMPRESSION: ----------- Uniform echotexture of the penile soft tissues. The peak systolic velocity in cavernosal arteries is seen 5cms/sec with absent diastole. Please correlate clinically. Suggested further evaluation and follow up. They didnt injected any thing(like serum) to my pennis.Just as such test has been conducted.whether velocity parameters mentioned in the report or ok or not.

Hello,

Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring. I understand that on the doctor s suggestion , you have got an penile ultrasound and Doppler done.

The penile ultrasound done is normal. The penile Doppler is an highly accurate test for diagnosis of erectile dysfunction. Penile erection is due to the interaction between the nerves, blood vessels and sinusoid system. Erectile dysfunction can occur due to psychological or organic causes like peripheral vascular disease, neurogenic or arterial conditions.

In your report, the peak systolic velocity is 5 cm/ sec. Values less than 30 cm/sec suggest an arterial dysfunction . It would be best you consult your doctor for further management.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to discuss further.

Thank you.

Patient replied :

Sir i read in internet the 30 cm/sec attains after injecting some serum inside pennis.they didnt injected any serum into me.what are the normal values during non errection time..

Hello,

Thanks for the query. I understand that you have a few questions regarding the procedure.

Here , a penile color Doppler uses a transducer to produce high quality images and accurate velocity data. The transducer used is 7.5 MHz. Initially the penis which is in the flaccid state is scanned for any abnormalities and the cavernosal artery diameter is examined along with peak systolic velocity.

Peak systolic velocity is used to indicate arterial dysfunction . The normal range is More than 60 cms /sec. If the value is less than 30 cms /sec it indicates arterial dysfunction. If it is between to 25 - 30 cms/ sec then it is a borderline, and less than 25 cms / sec it is definite arterial dysfunction. The color doppler is usually done with injection of a substance known as papavarine 60 mg which is injected intracavernosally. This is a more sensitive test.

In your report , you had a Doppler without the injection done which showed the peak systolic velocity is 5 cm / sec which is suggestive of an definite arterial dysfunction. However it can be best confirmed with the use of the papavarine induced color Doppler for the accurate diagnosis of erectile dysfunction.
