Internal bleeding after rough fingering and time needed to heal

Resolved Question:

Hi Doctor,

I experienced rough fingering last night to the point of bleeding. It appears the bleeding is internal because using a mirror I cannot see any signs of a tear. I bled at the time and through the night but it had basically gone down by the morning when I went to urinate. Urination doesn't cause any pain. I am unlikely to be active for another week. Will this be enough time to heal or do I need to see a doctor?

Hello,

Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.

The bleeding could be due to abrasion the cervical mucosa (from minor trauma). This might not be visible externally unless you use special instruments. That is the reason you are not able to see any bleeding points. This is should heal within 2-4 days of time. Since you are not having any penetrative sex for a week, this should heal by itsown, there is no need to see a Doctor immediately. But if there is persistent bleeding after 2 days you will need to visit a Doctor.

Bleeding from minor trauma is bit unusual. If there is any STD (like a Candida / fungal infection ) there could be easy bruising and bleeding. So you may want to consider an STD test if you are at risk.

Hope this helps

Patient replied :

From what I can tell the bleeding has stopped entirely, so I will wait to see if there is any pain in a week's time before thinking about seeing a Doctor. Does this sound reasonable?

Also, I don't believe I have the typical fungal infection symptoms such as itching or a thick discharge, nor do I experience any discomfort urinating. Does this rule that STD out? I have never had an STD test. Would STDs be seen in an average blood test as I do have these relatively frequently due to low iron.

Thanks

Yea, in a week everything should be normal. No bleeding / no pain. That should be a good estimate. In case if the bleeding recurs from sexual activity it is better to get checked. STDs won't be seen in an average blood tests. STD is recommended if you have a history of risk / unprotected sex in the recent past. One need not have typical symptoms of STD as a matter of fact.

Hope this helps. Thank you
