Thanks for your wonderful question. Strictly speaking, never go to infect yourself with Herpes Simplex Virus. It is found that more than 50% youngsters in US has got infected with this virus. Anyway, it is not advised to get infected, as there is no cure for this virus infection. Once got infected, it will stay in your body for a lifetime and it is assured. Antiviral treatments can only suppress the depth of outbreak but cannot eradicate the virus entirely from human body. Moreover there is no small or big viral outbreak. Every primary outbreak will be big and no one can predict how wide the viral outbreak in individual human beings. Even so called protected sex with people having infection, using barrier methods like condoms, are not found effective in treating herpes virus. This is because it can be spread through skin to skin contact and no condom can prevent skin to skin contact with sores completely. In some people, outbreaks are not seen commonly and even if an outbreak occur it will go un-noticed with a few sores or so. But in some others, they get severe outbreaks just like primary ones. We cannot predict how severe the infection will be in your body and so, prevention is the best option. Even women having herpes can transmit the virus to new born babies, if they are experiencing an outbreak at the time of delivery. It is your responsibility to prevent an infection to you so that you are not only becoming herpes negative but also will not communicate the infection to others.
