Resolved question:
Hi there, I am a female of 26 years. I recently found that I have got genital warts. But it is seen inside my vagina and none is seen outside vagina. Now I am in Europe and I consulted with a doctor here. He prescribed Veregen 10% to be applied inside vagina. It is a green tea leaf ointment, as I read from internet and from its label. Moreover it is written that it is to be used externally and not internally. Can I use it in my vagina, for curing those warts? I am confused by the contradictory statements of doctor and the pamphlet found with it. Can I use this ointment internally? If no, can you please suggest some medication to treat this, for removal of intra vaginal genital warts?

I understand your concern about intra vaginal genital warts. As you told, Veregen is a herbal product and is made from green tea leaf extracts. It is not used to treat genital warts. Genital warts are caused by human papilloma virus and cannot be treated with such ointments. Moreover ointments will not help in preventing spread of anal and vaginal warts through sexual contacts. Veregen can suppress symptoms of genital warts in normal skin and must not be used inside vagina, as the structure of intra vaginal skin is not similar to that of external skin. Hope my answer helps. Take care.
