Hip pain with cracking. Is sitting on wallet reason?

Resolved question:
I have moderate to severe pain in my left hip after exercising or playing hockey. And it persists a few days after. Even when there is no pain, my hip will crack and pop when I do leg lifts or when I turn my leg to the side and raise it. It's always cracked as far as I can remember but the pain has only recently started after I began to play hockey. I drive a truck for a living and do sit on my wallet all day. Could that be the cause of the popping?

I'm a 22 year old male

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
Was there ever any injury to your hip?
Did you get an x ray?
Approximately since when have you been noticing this cracking/ popping sound?
It is not because of sitting on your wallet.
It is better to get an X-RAY of your left hip and based on the findings, if there are signs of any bone resorption we can evaluate your vitamin d levels. It could also be due to low vitamin d levels in your serum and that needs to be ruled out.
It could possibly be due to a ligament sprain but in that case the cracking or popping should not persist for so long.
Awaiting your reply,
Regards.
