Resolved question:
Hi doctor, I found a small white lump in my vaginal lining which is quite hard to feel. I consulted a doctor she told me it would go away with time. It is now three months but it had not faded. Doctor I want to know about this. Is it something to worry about like genital warts related with STD?

Thank you for your question. The problem you told me about white lump in the vaginal lining must not always be related to genital warts. The reason behind can be a cyst which needs to be observed closely. These types of lumps can be settled without further treatment. During infection these lumps enlarges and become painful. Antibiotics and pain killers are administered during this kind of infection. This can also be a result of folliculitis, where hair follicle gets inflamed due to blockage of pores. Blockage results from shaving vigorously or tight clothing. If the problem persists for a long time then do consult your doctor for the test of STD. It is always better to get sure and come out of confusion. You must not hide anything from your doctor because diagnosis depends upon symptoms and source of infection. These days many tests are being done and they are not at all painful. Undergoing proper treatment, if detected with one, would help you recover soon and be healthy and normal. Do not discontinue your medicines unless the complete course is done because these tend to come back again and again. Do not try to scratch or cut your lump. Doing this would aggravate the condition and it would take even longer time to heal. Always remember that maintaining proper hygiene and observing safe and protected sex will prevent you from developing STDs. STD once developed require proper attention. I wish u good luck for future.
