Can Acyclovir be given to a person affected by chicken pox to reduce the severity. If so what is the dosage? My Son who is 21 years old patientold is having chicken pox from yesterday evening (05.07.2015)

I understand your concern
Acyclovir can help if treatment started within 24 hours of rash in the doses 10-20 mg/kg every 8 hours for 5 days. Calamine lotion can be used to reduce severity of itching.
