Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
You are suffering from intermittent pressure change in ear with tinnitus for 3 months.
Most likely you are suffering from Eustachian tube (tube connecting ear and nose) dysfunction. As this happens following flu. Other differential diagnosis include Meniere's disease.
An audiogram and tympanometry will give more information, I think it is already done if several ent have already examined you. Can you tell me about the reports?
After confirming diagnosis, it can be treated.
Do you have any associated giddiness?
Hope this helps,
Feel free to discuss further,
Best regards
Patient replied :
Yes, my Eustacian tubes are closed up sometimes (a lot), but not sure if they are closed up when I'm having the ear spasms. During the spasms I temporarily lose my hearing in that ear, but the spams last only a second or so. I have not been seen by ENT doctors, only internal medicine MD's & neurologists. Audiogram is scheduled for next Tuesday. Appointment with ENT is scheduled for April (earliest I could get at my health care center.) No one has suggested tympanometry. Very occasionally I experience a slight giddiness, but not often and only when lying down, never when sitting up or walking around. The problem is mostly the tinnitus but these pessure spasms are relatively new and becoming more frequent. They seem to make the tinnitus worse so could be connected.
Hello,
So your symptoms are suggestive of eustachean tube dysfunction. Try to finish tympanometry also with audiogram if possible, it takes only 5 minutes to do this, and it will help in diagnosis.
Anyway as you are not able to see ent in couple of months you can start following medications -
Levocetirizine 5 mg one in night for 3 weeks( to improve Eustachian tube function)
Tab. Ginkoba bilovas 120 mg two times for treatment of tinnitus.
Hope this helps,
Feel free to discuss further,
Best regards
