Resolved question:
Hi, ive been having horrid problems with my stomach for 5 years old patientnow, i was told it was ibs by various doctors but it gets worse and worse every year. It started with cramps and loose stools but now its got to the point where my guts feel swollen all the time and for the last 3 days i cant eat without terrible pain like my guts have swollen too big for my stomach cavity.
i have tried every kind of food isolation diet to see if i have any trigger foods, i dont ear dairy or gluten, ive even tried fasting to let it calm down but no matter what i eat now i am in agony and im almost scared to eat, even water gives me pain recently. IBS drugs like buscopan dont work they make it worse and give me terrible stomach pain,.
i dont think this is ibs but i dont know what to do as ive seen 4 doctors including a private one and they all just said ibs but its gotten worse, the last doctor recomended an endoscopy whcih i would be fine with but then he told me about the laxative i have to take the day before and said itwould bring on one of my bad attacks and i cant do this because when i have a bad attack im in bed for days so there is no way i would be healthy enough to come in for it to be done
Please help me with suggestions of what this could be and what i should do, its ruining my life

Hi,
Thanks for the additional information.
The information you have given points towards irritable bowel syndrome only except for the weight loss.
The following tests may be done.
Complete blood count, blood glucose, stool analysis, thyroid function test, upper GI endoscopy with small bowel biopsy and a colonoscopy.
Meanwhile you can take the following for relief- tablet Librax and tablet Rifaximin.
You discuss with your doctor before taking these medications.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
