Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. However before I proceed to answer your query, I have a few doubts.
1. For what illness are you being treated and since how long?
2. The problem of constipation and excessive walking. Since when are you having this problem?
Hope to hear these clarifications from you soon.
Kind regards
Dr. Srikanth Reddy MD

Hello,
Thanks for the information.
Yes it is safe to take zyprexa and risperidone consta in the doses that you have mentioned. However the complains of constipation and excessive walking could be the side effects of the medicines that you are taking. Constipation is generally caused by olanzapine. You may take a high fibre diet and excessive water to help the problem. If required daily one spoon of ispaghula with plenty of water may be taken for the same. Excessive walking could be a side effect of risperidone as it causes akathesia. Propranolol may help in this condition in the dose of 40 mg to 80 mg.
Both the side effects that you are having are not serious and you may continue to take the medicines if they are helping you with your psychosis. However if the side effects are not tolerable then you may need to switch to aripiprazole or ziprasidone or quetiapine etc.
I am sorry but I could not get the name of the medicine ' Druxal' in the dose of 150mg. It seems it is available only in your country. Will it be possible for you to send me the details of the content of this medicine.
Hope this helps
Regards.

Thank you doctor,
As per Truxal it is chlorprothixene hydrochloride.

Hello,
Thanks for the information. So it was truxal and not druxal. Yes in the dose of 150mg truxal is safe and can be taken with the medicines that you are already taking.
If your symptoms are well controlled with these medicnes then it is well and fine. However if the symptoms have not reduced totally then option of clozapine can be explored as it is used in resistant schizophrenia.
Hope this helps
