Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern. I am glad to know that your symptoms were not due to cardiac problem. And I hope you are taking medicines for acid reflux which is also called as Gastrointestinal reflux disease. (GERD). I would like to know some things so that I can understand what you are going through.
1. What do you exactly mean by funny leg? Is there any sensation like tingling, numbness, cramps, pain?
2. Do you have any problem with your sleep? Are you able to get enough sleep at night?
3. What is your age? Did you have any problems like diabetes or any other disease?
4. Do you take alcohol?
Please feel free to discuss further
Regards

It is like a numbness sensation, no pain. I am taking nexium 40mg at the moment,The last few nights i have slept pretty good, I been getting about 8 hours per night. I am 25 years old and i have not diabetes or diseases, i occasionaly drink alcohol on weekends but i have not drunk for 1 month. It is hard to breathe sometimes when i lay down and sit low in a chair, when i am walking around it isnt so bad. When i am laying in bed trying to sleep i find it hard to breathe and i get like a tight feeling accross my chest, it is very hard sometimes to know whats going with out stressing. The numbness feeling in my leg is on my lower left leg, it is around the calf area but it feels like its numb but i can walk and have no problem using it. I pinch it every now and then just to check.
Hello,
Thank you for getting back.
I see that your problems of shortness of breath typically while lying down are caused due to acid reflux. Acid reflux in GERD is caused by dysfunction of the sphincter at the lower end of esophagus which normally keeps stomach contents from moving in the backward direction from stomach. Dysfunction of this sphincter can cause reflux of stomach contents into your respiratory tract. This causes frequent respiratory infections and asthma. I advice you to take following measures;
- avoid food 3 hours before you sleep
- avoid large meals at a time
- elevate head of the bed while sleeping
- loose weight if you are overweight
- avoid alcohol, chocolates, Pepsi, coke, coffee, smoking
Get evaluated by a doctor who might suggest you investigations like upper GI scopy and manometry to find out the cause of acid reflux.
To me, your funny leg symptoms seem unrelated to the GERD. Numbness is leg needs to be evaluated by a neurologist which might be due to many reasons e.g vascular diseases, peripheral neuropathy, diabetes among the others.

Hello, Sometimes when i go to sleep i wake up and i feel like i am panicking, sweating and hand and feet go numb a bit. Would this be something to do with panick attacks? They only last a few minuates but i get worried sometimes and that might cause other problems which i am having right?
Hello,
Yes, panic attacks can also lead to a range of different symptoms including sweating, numbness, palpitations, e.t.c
They also increase the acid reflux. So it should be avoided as far as possible.
