Can severe panic during pregnancy be PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA?

Resolved Question:

Low cortisol (ASI), constant adrenaline/severe panic feeling. HR 100-125. Cold hands and feet. Now 8 weeks pregnant and symptoms have intensified. No headaches or sweating. Normal plasma catecholamine (norepinephrine 540). Just worried about the constant, intense panic. Could preg nancy make it worse? Already have hx of anxiety and obgyn just started me on zoloft. Also have terrible insomnia (only sleep 2-3hours/night). Do you think I have a pheochromocytoma?

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
The long acting injectable anti-psychotics are generally given in the areas where there are bulk of muscle. Area that you are describing above the elbow is not the place where there is bulk of muscles. But the place cannot be an exception.
So the possibility of having got injection cannot be absolutely denied.
The effect of long acting injections can last for 2-4 weeks and there after it needs to be repeated. Even if these injections have been given to you, the effect would vanish in 4 weeks.
Hope this helps,
IN case if you need any further query, do let me know.
Kind regards
Dr. Srikanth Reddy MD

Patient replied :

Thank you doctor.
I suppose the injection is inserted in the wrong place. Would the effects so last for 2 weeks?

Hello
Yes the effect should last for two weeks if it was a depot long acting injection. If not the effect will wear of 12-24 hours.
Hope this helps, feel free to discuss further

Patient replied :

yes even if the LAI was injected in a wrong location (where there is less muscles), the medicine would last for 2 Weeks?.

Hello,
The effect of a long acting anti-psychotic can take upto 2- 4 weeks to vanish completely irrespective of the muscle mass of where it was injected. Thereafter you would need a repeat injection.
Hope this helps
