Hello, I can understand your concern. The tearing sensation in the abdomen is probably due to a muscle sprain. This usually occurs during sit ups when done incorrectly .It may present as mild to sever pain and aggravates on lifting heavy weights and the lasts for 2-3 weeks and gradually subsides. The abdomen is made up of four layers that cover the internal organs:
a)Transversus abdominus:It is the deepest layer of the abdomen. It forms the muscles for the anterior and lateral part of the abdomen. It provides stability to the core.
b)Rectus abdominus: This is a long muscle that extends vertically from the ribs to the pelvis. This muscle is responsible for the abs. It usually moves with contraction.
c)External oblique muscles: It is a superficial muscle and lies in front and either side of the trunk. This muscle is useful for twisting of the trunk to the opposite side.
d)Internal oblique muscle: This is a deep muscle and lies below the external oblique muscle. It s action is opposite to the external oblique.
I would suggest you to use painkillers like ibuprofen twice a day after food for a week and avoid strenuous activities. It should gradually reduce. Try this for a week, if it worsens, then you can consult your surgeon. Thank you.
