I am very nervous. I have had a soar throat since Monday. Started feeling like it was burned. I got off a three week trial of Nexium and about four days off it was like all of sudden I really had GERD. My primary doc put me on nexium saying I prob had too much stomach acid after having my baby (had burning in my tummy from six weeks post partum and now 8 months post partum). Gastro doc said I probably had gerd too although I didn't have symptoms really in my throat. SO I assumed my tummy backfired all that tummy acid I took out. I modified my diet, saw an accupunturist who did a great pinpointed treatment on tummy and cut out gluten for this week. On Friday I thought wow I am doing better...oh and I added in Pepcid OTC because that had worked for me years ago. Yesterday I woke up and felt like I had a canker soar deep down in my throat (like in the esophagus side). my right gland started to swell. Then I noticed I started running a mild increase in temp 99.2 all week (I am normally 97.8) so it felt warm for me. Well today glands on both sides of my neck are like gum balls, I felt a little gaggy today and like there was cotton in my throat when I talked. Tonight I noticed the back sides of my tongue (if I stick it out as far as I can stretch it all is inflammed like when I had tonsiliis ...I googled and I think these are the lingual tonsils? I had the big ones in my throat taken out many years ago.

Should I worry about suffocating? I have 100 degree fever tonight. The back of my throat looks red and I cannot tell if I have white spots or if its just food particles but boy the back of my tongue looks like thick fatty flesh that grew back there on the back sides of the tongue. It freaked me out!!!! Should I jump to cancer or is it likely it is GERD that got infected in the area?

How will a doc know? Anything to ease my worry. I am home alone with baby and 7 year old...hubby out town.
