Hello,
Thank you for your query at Doctorspring.com
Bleeding on the toilet paper, or minute amount of bleeding could indicate gastritis, peptic ulceration, and even worm infestation. In either case there will be minute amounts of bleeding.
Apart from this occult bleeding what are your other symptoms. - Any nausea, vomiting, heartburn? What is the consistency of stool.
Since a P/R examination has been done, it rules out any obstruction and other local causes. So there is no need to worry about cancer.
Based on your symptoms i can guide you further,
Regards.
I think I have fecal incontinence too. Sometimes after I walk I need to wipe again. The blood I think has been there once a month or every two months for the last six months. There seem to be irritation and itching round the anus too. Im scheduled for a recto- or colonoscopy in two months but Im very frightened. I think I have been constipated too at least these six months
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query on DoctorSpring.com
There are many different causes for bleeding per rectum. Cancer is just one of the causes. More common causes are hemorrhoids and fissures. These occur in persons with history of constipation. Other causes include polyps and inflammatory bowel disease ( like ulcerative colitis )
Taking your age, history of constipation and normal digital rectal examination in to consideration the most likely cause for your bleeding is hemorrhoids.
Colonoscopy would help to confirm the disgnosis.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi It burns/stings around the anal opening and bleeds. I looked in the mirror and saw a small dot on the outside on the skin that bled. Ive seen some mucus on the outside of my stool I dont know if thats normal?
Hi,
This is not normal. Please get it examined by your physician.
As suggested earlier hemorrhoids should be ruled out. Other possibilities are anal fissure and colitis.
You can discuss with your doctor about these possibilities.
Regards.
