Resolved question:
Hello Doctor! My mother has been suffering from Arthritis pain in her knees for the past two or three years. Last year the pain got very severe. Pain killers were helpful only for a short time. The pain recurs. And now, we just came across a special procedure called Lubrication process which should be taken once in 18 months. In that, a substance called 'hyaluronic acid' is injected into the affected region (knees) and the doctor says that she can be free of pain for 18 months. Please let me know how far the lubrication process will be beneficial to her. Are there any adverse side effects to getting it done? Please help.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I have read your query with diligence.
It looks that your mother is suffering from arthritis of knee .The treatment of arthritis depends on its grade. In early grades of 1,2 & in some cases of grade 3 the lubricating injection are very helpful. These injections are helpful in relieving as well as repairing the cartilage problem of knee. You may ask about grade of arthritis from your doctor. If her knee problem is not relieved by medicines then she should get these injections.
Hope this will be helpful.
Regards.
Thank you. But Doctor, the one thing that scares me is what I read on internet about Hyaluronic acid. They have mentioned it promotes the growth of tumour cells and induces cancer. I would like to know whether it is true or untrue. Here are the links from where I read.

Hello,
If you read the above article then you will found that the given
hyaluronic is mostly in dermal setting which produce adverse reaction
.For tumor to spread ,there should already a tumor. The HA helps in
spreading tumor in oral form or in soft tissue application. The mostly
observed reaction is sterile abscess. In joint it acts as inert
material.Till now I, myself also have not seen any reaction with this
chemical.
Hope this will help you.
Regards.
So what is the conclusion doctor? Can I go ahead with this? Is it safe?
Yes, If you do not have cancer then for osteoarthritis it is safe.
