Resolved question:
I have definite attention issues. I am 40 years on now and I have dealt with this in many different ways. I have tried and still do meditation and yoga (when i can) and this helps me the most along with having a notebook system. I do okay but i have for the past 4 years worked from home, the first 3 was mostly traveling but i started to feel a huge strain when i had stuff to do that i would slowly drift off and work so hard to keep pulling myself in. For the past year my job has shifted to being home all the time. I have set up my environment to help. I have an office in the basement no distractions, not much in my office, etc. However, i still feel like my attention has gotten worse and my job is suffering because of this. So i have a couple of questions. 1. is it possible that this condition could get worse. It has been steady even prior to my working from home. 2. I would like to try medication. I do understand that some of these drugs are addictive and are sometimes abused that is one of the reason i never went this route before plus i don't want to become apathetic or spaced ot or anything. I have always felt like i could deal with this stuff but it is just getting to where my job is suffering. I also understand that i am typing this online rather than seeing a doctor face to face and this is mostly because i have procrastinated, do not have a steady physician and ultimately have a hard time asking for what i want in social situations. Long story short are there any options to work with my attention other than changing foods, meditation, creating a system for myself and constructing my environment to promote focus; i have done all of these and it is getting worse and secondly is there a way attempt one of the attention drugs to assist?

Hello
Thanks for writing to DoctorSpring.com with your health concern.
Generally the birth control pill starts working within a week, but it is reliable only when taken on the first or second day of periods.
In your wife's case, it was started a week afterwards, so I do not think you should rely on the birth control alone.
Yes, please take the morning after pill.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
Thank you! My wife and I appreciate the advice. My wife is concerned that the Plan B pill is an abortion, is that true? If we decide not to get the Plan B pill can she still keep taking the birth control pill. If we are pregnant could continuing to take the birth control pill affect the baby?
Thank you
Hello,
Thank you for the appreciation.
1. The Plan B is not an abortion, in fact the Plan B would not act if she has already ovulated, so that is not a concern.
2. If you do not get the Plan B, yes, she can continue using the birth control pills.
3. If she is pregnant, continuing the pills would not harm the pregnancy / baby in any way.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
Thanks again. One final question. We decided to get the Plan B pill. After my wife takes it today should she skip her regular birth control pill tonight, still take it, start taking it the following day or not take it again until after her next cycle?
Thank you
Hi again.
After taking Plan B, the birth control have to be re started ( as if from day 1 - a new pack again ). You must use a back up method of birth control until you have taken seven consecutive days of birth control pills or seven days use of the ring, patch or Depo-Provera.
You may totally expect some menstrual irregularities, due to the interruption in the birth control, having started it later than recommended, and mainly due to the Plan B.
ANother method that will slightly reduce the confusion is this -
After taking Plan B, stop the birth control.
You will have some amount of withdrawal bleeding / spotting due to stoppage of the birth control and due to the withdrawal effect of the Plan B.
You can use a back up method of contraception till then.
You can again start a fresh pack of birth control on day 2 of your periods.
Take care.
Regards.
