Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern.
A plain CT scan may show polyps or lesions that can obstruct the colon. But the chance of missing them is very high. So the ideal thing is to get a CT scan with rectal contrast to look for lesions obstructing the colon.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. R. K.
Patient replied :
I'm being seen in March by a GI and hopefully will be able to gets colonoscopy. I've had chronic constipation for 3 months. And 1 time a month for the past 3 months I've experienced pain, bloating, tenderness, gas and rectum spasms almost exactly a month a part. Last for about 4-6 days then goes away. I also feel constipated throughout the month and no matter what I do with my diet or drinking it doesn't get better. I never feel fully relieved. I'm at a loss. I've seen a obgyn a urologist and my pcp several times. Any ideas? Also will milk of magnesia cause stools to be thinner?
Hello,
Constipation may be caused due to changed diet, inadequate water intake, less fibre in diet, lack of exercise, stress etc.
I advice you taking plenty of fluids, fruits such as banana, apple and vegetables, and fibre containing food such as oat. Warm fluids and milk of magnesia may help to relieve constipation
