Resolved question:
Hi doc, I have been facing a really frustrating situation and I feel myself lost. I am affected with genital warts due to sexual relationship with my ex-girlfriend. However I don’t wish to go to a hospital for treatment. Please suggest me some types of effective medications to treat it at home. I heard that using glacial acetic acid and 35% hydrogen peroxide will work well. Which one is better? Please help.

Thanks for your question. It is unfortunate to hear that you are affected with genital warts. It is a sexually transmitted disease caused by human papilloma virus or HPV. Infections are sexually transmitted infections and can occur by unprotected sex with affected partners. They are wide spreading warts and can affect any part of genitals with discoloration of area like white or flesh colored bumps which look like a cauliflower. No treatment is found yet to be 100% effective in treating and curing genital warts. What you read about acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide are false. They will not work for sure. Treatments given for genital warts are not so effective and they re-appear after a period of time. However there are methods to remove them for some time. Electrocautery, cryotherapy and surgical excision are used to treat genital warts medically. You can also opt for creams which reduce the spread and sometimes remove the symptoms of warts. Podoflox, Podophyllin etc. are useful in this case and can be tried. Wish you to get well soon. Take care.
