Hello,

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
I can understand your concern.

This seems to be Folliculitis which is a bacterial infection of the skin. It is common after shaving the hair.

I would recommend application of Mupirocin cream twice a day for a week on the affected areas.

It would be best to treat it as soon as possible. Mupirocin cream will require a prescription from your doctor .

Please let me know if you have any queries.
Take care

Hi,

Thanks for the details and assurance.

Ok, i will go to GP to get cream but can you advise if this will not happen if shaving is not done? Also is it something that spreads with touching and also can it cause any more problems later on or just a infection which clears after a awhile.

Thanks gaian in advance.

Hello,
Yes, if you do not shave there are less chances of the infection developing as there is no hair follicle related injury.
It doesn't spread on touching, only in rarely occasions, on very close skin to skin contact, it can be transmitted. And on application of the ointment, the infection will reduce automatically.
Regards.
