I believe I am prone to getting keloids but I really want to get a tattoo. If I were to get it, can I just put a silicone patch over it right away to prevent that from forming? Would that ruin the tattoo? If not, how quickly can I apply it to the newly tattooed area and how long should I use it for?

Hello Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com.I can understand your concern. If you have a keloidal tendency there are surely chances that you may get a keloid after a tatoo. Application of a silicone patch however soon won't help. It would be best to avoid the tattoo. Silicone patch won't ruin the tattoo. But it may not surely prevent a tattoo from developing. You need it for many days maybe around 3 months or more. http://www.patient.co.uk/health/keloid-leafletThis link is for your reference.
